Artifact Starter Prompts

Stop asking for an answer. Ask for a thing.

A ready-to-paste starter pack from Module 4. When you tell Claude to make something, a document, a tracker, a page, it doesn't reply in the chat, it builds the actual thing in a window of its own beside the conversation. Anthropic calls these Artifacts. This sheet gives you a proven make me a ___ line for the deliverables you build most, each written to open a real Artifact you can refine in place and take with you.

The pattern (why these work)

Don't say "tell me" or "write me an answer." Say "make me a [document / tracker / page / checklist]." Name the format, and Claude builds that instead of typing a reply. Fill the brackets with your own details.

The four moves behind every one:

  1. Ask for a thing (name the format).
  2. It opens beside the chat (a window on the right, that panel is your deliverable).
  3. Refine it in place (just keep asking, it edits the same thing and saves each version).
  4. Take it with you (Copy, Download, or Publish to a link anyone can open).

The starter pack

1

A document

Paste this
Make me a one-page [welcome document / proposal / brief] I can send, about [topic]. Give it a clear title, sections for [section 1], [section 2], and [section 3], and a [friendly / professional] tone. Build it as a document I can edit and download.

Refine it: "Make it shorter and warmer." Or highlight a section and use Edit with Claude to reshape just that part.

2

A tracker (spreadsheet / table)

Paste this
Make me a [launch / project / content] tracker as a table. Columns: [Task], [Owner], [Due date], and [Status]. Fill in these rows to start: [list a few real items]. Build it as a table I can keep updating.

Refine it: "Add a Priority column." Then just keep asking to add rows, sort, or change a status.

3

A one-page site

Paste this
Make me a simple one-page site for [what it's for]. Include: a headline, a short intro, [a list of services / an about section], and a clear call to action to [contact / book / sign up]. Build it as a page I can publish to a link.

Refine it: "Make the headline punchier and add a section for testimonials." Then Publish for a shareable link.

4

A checklist

Paste this
Make me a checklist for [the process], as clear checkable steps in order. Cover everything from [starting point] to [finished result]. Keep each step to one action. Build it as a checklist I can reuse.

Refine it: "Group these into three phases with a heading for each." Or "turn step 4 into three sub-steps."

5

A simple dashboard

Paste this
Make me a simple dashboard that shows [the numbers I care about] at a glance. Include tiles for [metric 1], [metric 2], and [metric 3], with [this month's] values, and one small chart of [what to trend]. Here's my data: [paste or attach your numbers]. Build it as a page I can view and update.

Refine it: "Add last month's numbers next to this month's so I can see the change."

The three refine-in-place nudges (use on anything)

You never start over. You keep the same conversation and nudge, it edits the same panel and saves a new version.

"Make it shorter."
Tighten what came back.
"Add a column."
Or a section, a step, a row.
"Warmer tone."
Or sharper, more formal, more concise.
If you overshoot, just step back a version with the version selector.

Take it with you

When it's right, get it out of Claude, three controls in the lower-right of the Artifact panel:

Copy
Drops it anywhere you paste.
Download
Saves it as a file.
Publish
Gives you a link anyone can open, no account needed. An Unpublish button appears after, so you can revoke it.

Quick check

Did I ask for a thing (a document, a tracker, a page), not just an answer?
Did it open in a panel beside the chat, not as text in the conversation?
Did I refine it in place by just asking, instead of starting over?
Did I take it out (copy, download, or a published link)?
If you just got text in the chat again: you asked a question, so you got an answer. If you want a thing, say "make me a thing" and name the format.
The one thing
Don't settle for an answer in the chat. Ask Claude to make you the actual thing, shape it in place, and take it with you.
Good. Fast. Yours. Here, Yours becomes something you can hold: a finished thing you made, that you can keep and hand to anyone. That's the top of the first rung.
