Fiverr takes 20% of every order from the seller. Its help page for freelancers says: "For every order you complete, you earn 80% of the purchase amount, including Gig Extras and tips." Fiverr also charges the buyer a service fee of 5.5%, plus $3.50 on orders under $200. Getting the money out costs $0 to $3 a withdrawal, depending on the method.
So on a $100 gig, the buyer pays $109, the seller earns $80, and Fiverr keeps $29.
How much does Fiverr take from sellers?
20% of every order. Fiverr's help page on the earnings page says sellers earn "80% of the purchase amount, including Gig Extras and tips." That 20% applies to the gig price, the extras the buyer adds, and any tip.
| Gig price | Seller earns (80%) | Fiverr keeps from the seller (20%) |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | $8 | $2 |
| $50 | $40 | $10 |
| $100 | $80 | $20 |
| $500 | $400 | $100 |
Our arithmetic on the 80% in Fiverr's "Your earnings page" help article, read on 22 October 2026.
To earn a set amount, divide it by 0.8. A seller who wants $100 from an order has to price it at $125. That is the number to work out before you set your gig tiers, not after the first order lands.

How much does Fiverr charge buyers?
5.5% of the purchase, plus $3.50 on orders under $200. Fiverr's help page for buyers says "The standard service fee is 5.5% of your purchase amount, and we add a $3.50 fee to orders under $200." Each payment carries its own fee, so an extra or a tip added later is charged separately.
| Gig price | Buyer's service fee | Buyer pays | Seller earns | Fiverr keeps in total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.55 + $3.50 | $14.05 | $8 | $6.05 |
| $100 | $5.50 + $3.50 | $109.00 | $80 | $29.00 |
| $200 | $11.00 | $211.00 | $160 | $51.00 |
| $500 | $27.50 | $527.50 | $400 | $127.50 |
Our arithmetic on the rates in Fiverr's "Paying for orders, extras, or custom offers" help article, 22 October 2026. Taxes, where they apply, are extra.
The $3.50 is why small gigs are expensive for buyers. On a $10 order, the buyer pays 40.5% more than the gig price, and Fiverr keeps $6.05 of the $14.05. From $200 up, only the 5.5% applies.
Do buyers see Fiverr's fee in the gig price?
In some regions, yes. There, the price on a gig listing already includes Fiverr's service fee, so a buyer sees one all-in number instead of the gig price plus 5.5% at checkout. Fiverr's "Price upfront" help article says that in those regions, the price shown on gig listings, search results and custom offers is an all-in price: "The amount includes the base service price plus Fiverr service." Elsewhere, the fee appears at checkout.
For sellers, Fiverr says this changes only what the buyer is shown: "How much you earn on each Gig does not change." Your 80% is still calculated on the price you set. The practical effect is that in those regions your gig looks more expensive in search than the price you typed in.
How much does it cost to withdraw money from Fiverr?
$0 to $3 a withdrawal. Fiverr's help page lists the fees by method:
| Payout method | Withdrawal fee | Minimum | Transfer time |
|---|---|---|---|
| PayPal | $0 | $1 | 24 hours |
| Bank transfer (via Payoneer) | $1 | $20 | 1 to 3 business days (local currency) or 5 to 7 (USD wire) |
| Payoneer account | $3 | $10 | Up to 2 business days |
| Fiverr Revenue Card | $1 to $3 | $30 | Up to 2 business days |
From Fiverr's "Withdrawing your earnings & managing payout methods" help article, 22 October 2026. You can withdraw up to $5,000 per transaction.
Fiverr's PayPal page adds that "currency conversion fees may apply" and that PayPal may charge its own fees, so free from Fiverr is not always free to your bank.
What is Fiverr Early Payout and what does it cost?
1% of the earnings you clear early. Earnings sit in a clearing period after an order completes. Eligible sellers can skip it: Fiverr's help page says "A fee of 1% of the total clearing amount applies each time you use early payout", calculated "on your earned revenue only, not the full order amount."
On a $100 gig, that is 1% of your $80, so $0.80. The help pages we read describe the clearing period but do not state how many days it lasts, so we have not given a number.
How much does Fiverr take from tips?
20%, the same as orders. Fiverr's earnings help page includes tips in the 80% the seller earns, so a $10 tip pays the seller $8. On the buyer's side, Fiverr's tipping article says "Tips are charged with Fiverr's standard service fee", and the minimum tip is $5.
How does Fiverr's fee compare with Upwork's?
Fiverr's is fixed at 20%; Upwork's ranges from 0% to 15%. On a $1,000 job, a Fiverr seller earns $800 and an Upwork freelancer keeps $850 to $1,000, depending on the fee Upwork sets for that contract. Upwork also charges for Connects, the tokens used to apply for jobs, at $0.15 each. Fiverr's buyer fee is 5.5% plus $3.50 under $200; Upwork's client fee is up to 7.99% plus a one-time $0.99 to $14.99 per contract.
The models are different. On Upwork, you apply to clients' jobs. On Fiverr, buyers find your gig. The full breakdown is in how much Upwork takes from freelancers. Etsy is a third model for physical and digital products; see the Etsy fee calculator.
The honest hard part
The 20% is not the hard part. It is a known cost, and it buys a marketplace full of buyers you did not have to find. The hard part is that the price buyers compare you on is the one in search results, next to sellers anywhere in the world, where a lower price is always one scroll away.
The second hard part is the $3.50 small-order fee. A $10 gig costs the buyer $14.05, so a low price does not look as low as you think by the time it reaches checkout. Raising the floor, with fewer and larger packages, is usually kinder to both sides.
The third is the same as on any marketplace: your reviews, your gig ranking and your client list live on Fiverr. Sellers who build a business around brands, rather than around a gig page, as in how to start a UGC creator business, keep more of each sale because no one is taking a share. The same arithmetic applies to designers selling on Fiverr; see how much a thumbnail designer charges.
